Concrete Flooring doesn't have to be boring
When we think of concrete flooring, we often think of those boring basement floors a dull grayish color having little pattern or design. These old school misconceptions of concrete are quickly falling to the wayside thanks to current advances in concrete technology and installation practices.
This current buzz in architectural and interior design is the use of decorative concrete as a material for flooring and other solid surface areas in the home. As more people discover the wide range of design possibilities in using concrete, its reputation and popularity is quickly gaining ground on more traditional materials like tile, carpet, or wood.
Concrete is inexpensive, durable, and offers an almost unlimited range of texture, color, and design options. Due to its durability and low-maintenance properties, it is becoming a popular flooring material in residential basements, loft spaces, apartments, as well as high-traffic commercial spaces such as retail stores, restaurants, dealerships, etc. Concrete floors can be decorated in a variety of colors and hues, scored into elaborate custom designs, and stamped with three-dimensional molds to replicate any type of natural stone.
Existing concrete floors that are damaged can be resurfaced with high strength cement toppings which can then be decorated using the previously mentioned methods. These “overlays” are often only 1/8”-1/4” in depth, but have the strength of standard concrete.
Along with this rising popularity and high demand for concrete interiors, has come a new breed of concrete contractor. The clever marriage of artistic ability and hard earned concrete skills has allowed contractors like Concrete Makeovers to turn heads in the trade.Concrete Makeovers, has been helping to change how people view concrete for more than two decades in Greater Boston.
